NGC Ancients: Unusual Bactrian Portraits | NGC (ngccoin.com)

Ces versions bactriennes sont très probablement dérivées d’une monnaie antérieure frappée par Ptolémée Ier, qui a gouverné l’Égypte après la mort d’Alexandre III le Grand, d’abord en tant que satrape (323-305/4 av. J.-C.), puis en tant que roi (305/4-282 av. J.-C.). Bien que la signification de cette coiffe ait été beaucoup discutée, elle reflète apparemment les succès qu’Alexandre III a connus pendant ses campagnes orientales.
